I work from photographs so obviously the better quality the picture (as in the focus and lighting), the more detail I can see to transfer to the commission.With animal portraits it’s best to get down to the head height of the animal to give it a more flattering picture, and preferably outside as it brings out the natural colours in the hair or fur.
